Starting the Daily paper read challenge
This is a challenge from a Facebook group I recently joined.
The challenge is about reviewing 1 paper daily. We should scheme the paper and write a 3 line review of the following format.
- Line 1: Motivation and introduction of the paper.
- Line 2: Unique methodology(method) of paper.
- Line 3: Experiments and insights of paper.
Previously, I felt that I had to spend too much time writing the review in Medium. I think I spent ~2 hrs summarizing each paper. Because of this stress, I gave up on reviewing some papers after reading them. Also, to write an in-depth review, I need to do a very thorough read of the paper. This could be important when for example I am reviewing a reference paper to my thesis. But most of my paper reviews are for getting a feel of the most recent research.
For the reasons above, I decided that it will be best to scheme the paper and post a review in the 3 line format. I am planning to do this daily(weekdays only). However, I will still post more comprehensive reviews on key papers worth reviewing. Thus, I believe the two types of feeds: daily 3 line reviews and comprehensive reviews uploaded every 4~5 days must be segregated.
The daily paper reviews will be posted in my second account.
Comprehensive reviews will be posted on the original account.
